The community and its welfare matters to us most:
The Harrow Monitoring Group was formally launched in 2014, built on many years of collective experience* serving the community, in Harrow and beyond.
We are not an online newspaper or a blog – we are a community group dedicated to the public interest.
Our mission is to improve the quality of life for residents, primarily in Harrow, by:
Promoting social justice – ensuring fairness, equality, and accountability.
Monitoring policies and practices – challenging those that harm residents’ welfare and rights, especially the vulnerable and under-represented.
Focusing on deprivation, particularly prioritising action in areas identified as most deprived in the Index of Multiple Deprivation.
Educating and informing public opinion – providing analysis, commentary, and leading questions to foster awareness and dialogue locally and nationally – see the Home and Publications sections.
At our core, we believe the welfare of the community matters most. We work collectively, transparently, and in solidarity with residents to ensure their voices are heard and their rights protected.
We are not a part of any political party.
*The photo below is an example of a borough-wide initiative in 1991 which was widely supported by the community organisations in and outside Harrow, some are still active and supportive:

Examples of the Harrow’s diversity profile
63.5% non-White, including 45.2% Asian heritage, (2021 Census); 92.0% non-White pupils in Harrow schools (as of January 2023 according to the Harrow council report).
